Melo’s New Court: Venture Capital

By  |  0 Comments

If you just found out your salary was $122 million dollars wouldn’t you want to spend it? Now, since this is a hypothetical situation – let’s just pretend you said “YES”! Well, that would make you Carmelo Anthony in this case. He’s decided to take advantage of this paycheck and create a venture capital investment firm with Stuart Goldfarb called M7 Tech Partners…who knew Melo would be trading in his Knicks jersey for striped suits and leather briefcases?

Since Anthony already has a strong social outreach, he plans to leverage those followers along with his brand Melo to get the tech firm – sounding like a businessman already. The duo plans to work with digital media, tech startups and consumer internet. Their first investment? The children’s media company Hullabalu (lucky company right?).

In the article, “Knicks Star Carmelo Anthony Launces Venture Firm“, Tech Crunch writes, “According to a statement, as a parent himself, Anthony was particularly impressed with Hullabalu’s reinvention of storytelling (an investor base that already includes SV Angels, Gary Vaynerchuk, Gokul Rajaram, and Alexis Ohanian can’t hurt either).” Could Melo be following in the footsteps of Amar’e Stoudemire with Tapiture? We’ll have to wait and see.
